Municipal Waste - Hazardous Mutation - 2005 (Reseña / Review)

Hazardous Mutation - 2005

Segundo álbum de los de Richmond (EE.UU) que vio la luz en agosto de 2005, cuando en la escena mundial estaba brotando el thrash metal y los sonidos rápidos y a la par que Municipal Waste crecieron otras bandas como Violator en Brasil o Gama Bomb en Inglaterra. La banda ya llevaba en activo desde 2001 y ya tenía en su discografia, un EP, cuatros splits y un álbum. Aunque con este álbum, definitivamente abrieron las puertas a una nueva oleada de bandas y de temáticas.

Lo que caracteriza a Municipal Waste es su velocidad y agresividad en interpretar los temas, temas de entre 1 minutos (incluso menos) hasta 3 minutos que en este álbum mejoraron su sonido con una producción mucho mas cuidada y a una buena calidad haciendo totalmente disfrutable cada segundo de los temas. En líneas general podríamos decir que entre tema y tema (instrumentalmente hablando) no hay mucho cambio, incluso si juntáramos cada tema y hiciéramos un tema largo tendría sentido. Un total de 15 temas frenéticos que hacen que al principio no se entienda mucho (para los iniciados en el género) la celeridad y volatilidad de los temas, y hasta que no has escuchado bien a la banda no entiendes que la gracia es hablar de mutaciones, thrash metal, cerveza y deformidades. Disco que deja en la historia bastantes buenos temas como "Unleash The Bastards", "Terror Shark" o "Black Ice". Del trabajo no se puede decir mucho mas en cuanto a los temas, ya que como he remarcado antes se centra en temas cortos, sencillos y directos.

Trabajo y banda muy recomendada para aquellos seguidores de bandas como "D.R.I" o "Suicidal Tendencies" en sus inicios mas primitivos. Voz agresiva, guitarras cortantes y batería frenética, unos buenos calificativos para la banda de Tony Foresta. Un álbum que marca un antes y un después en la escena del thrash metal, y que en 2005 hizo que esta banda se catapultara a la primera línea de la nueva ola y creara nuevos adictos al crossover.

Cabe destacar por eso, la gran protada realizada por el maestro Ed Repka, ilustrador de otras bandas como "Megadeth", "Gruesome" o "Suicidal Angels".

Definitivamente, a mi entender, por lo que ha representando y sigue representando el LP se merece un 8/10.
