DesExult fue una banda de Death/Thrash Metal, proveniente de Risskov, Dinamarca, fundada en 1984 bajo el nombre de Samhain. En sus inicios, practicaban un Black/Death Metal en la línea de Venom, Celtic Frost, Possessed, y similares europeos de la época, referencias para una creciente movida underground que ha invadido toda Europa. Como Samhain, han dejado solo esta demo de 1985, llamada "The Courier", que luego fue reeditada en 1995 en formato de vinilo de 7", con una muy llamativa portada. En 1986, la banda se cambiaría el nombre a DesExult, grabando y lanzando cinco demos, y participando en algunos compilatorios de bandas del estilo, a fines de los '80. Tiempo después de grabar y lanzar su quinta demo, en 1988, se disuelven. Como curiosidad, los guitarristas Henrik Kjaer (Henk Leviathan), y Ebsen Slot Sörensen, crearon una popular revista, a mediados de los 80s, llamada "Blackthorn", cuyo nombre fue inspiración para la renombrada banda de Black Metal noruego Darkthrone.

Una malévola portada adorna este trabajo de corta duración y muchísima intensidad, con ese Black/Death Metal a la viejísima usanza, sacado de la sacrosanta escuela de Venom, Celtic Frost y similares europeos de esa época. La intro de "Plague Of Messiah", que en algunos discos de esta calidad acostumbramos a oír, con efectos de viento, coros infernales, y la voz del averno, dan paso a los blastbeats y a la potencia, que tiene cambios de tempos y solos para hacerlo más heavy y variado, como para cerrar los ojos y sentirse como esos chicos de vaqueros rotos y remeras de Hellhammer, Venom, grises de tanto gaste. “Prince Of Evil” empieza con una base distorsionada y potente de bajo, para detonar con el blastbeat y el infierno guitarrero, que me hace acordar a los temas viejos de Venom, donde Cronos hacía sus gansadas con el bajo. Para mover bien esas melenas!! La voz también hace que este tema tenga su ambiente de oscuridad, me llama mucho la atención lo bien ejecutada que está la propuesta musical, pues no todo es velocidad y blastbeats, también se deja un buen espíritu Heavy Metal en esta música llena de oscuridad. Bueno, en “Salvation” tenemos un tema tan potente, así como con sus partes lentas, bien a lo Celtic Frost, que también hace juego entre un ambiente macabro, y momentitos de velocidad y razones para hacer mosh mientras esta banda toca este tema. Todo esto en estos tres temas que suman los 15 minutos que dura este demo.

El disco es característico de la época, que incluso hoy, muchísimos años después, conserva esa intensidad que hace a producciones como esta, perdurar en las décadas como un buen vino (Y muchos sabemos que cuando se añeja un buen vino, sabe mejor). Una pena que esta banda haya hecho solo un puñado de demos, y nada más. Bueno, todos sabemos que hay bandas que se disuelven por las circunstancias variadas de la vida. Pero, igual, vivas o no, estas hordas dejan su huella en el tiempo, y en quienes sienten el verdadero Underground en cuerpo y alma (me incluyo).
