Godzilla es el nombre con el que esta banda formada por los hermano Duplantier comenzó, hasta el año 2000, nos entregaron un puñado demos bajo el nombre de Godzilla, sin embargo se vieron obligados a cambiar su nombre y lo renovaron por Gojira, que significa Godzilla en japonés romanizado.

Terra Incognita es el primer full-length de la banda y el primero bajo el nombre de Gojira.

La alineación del disco es formada por Joe Duplantier (Voz y Guitarra Líder), Mario Duplantier (Batería) Jean-Michel Labadie (Bajo) y Christian Andreu (Segunda guitarra) perpetuando ésta alineación hasta la actualidad

El título del disco (Terra Incognita) está en latín, el cual su traducción sería: Tierra Desconocida, de acuerdo a un texto encontrado en el interior del disco, el título se refiere a una leyenda hindú, donde Brahma ocultó la divinidad de la humanidad para el castigo de la misma, haciendo de ésta una tierra desconocida, designando en el interior del ser humano un lugar jamás explorado.

Tenemos una portada con fondo negro, el logo de la banda en color naranja y una individuo de rodillas tomándose la cabeza, lamentando el no encontrar la tierra desconocida, la persona que modeló para ésta portada es Christian Andreu, guitarrista de la banda.

Terra Incognita es un álbum conceptual el cual nos comunica pensamientos acerca de la naturaleza, su introspección y su relación con el hombre y el mundo.

Comenzamos con unas potentes Clone, Lizard Skin y Satan Is A Lawyer, que muestran las influencias Death y Groove de la banda, riffs propios de la banda, cambios de ritmos inesperados y Death Metal Progresivo puro.

04 es una pieza instrumental de bajo, la cual inicialmente fue una pieza que los hermanos Duplantier crearon como presente para el cumpleaños N° 50 de su madre y en ningún momento se tuvo la idea de incluirla en el disco, sin embargo lo fue, ésta canción se inaugura con un correo de voz del tío de los chicos Duplantier, en el cual se felicita a su madre por su cumpleaños.

Blow Me Away You (Niverse) es la transición de 04, en esta pieza desciframos mucho Groove que en combinación del doble bombo y el Death Metal hacen de ésta pieza única.

5988 Trillions De Tonnes, pieza instrumental que desembrolla Deliverance.
Deliverance nuevamente Death Metal potente con cambios de ritmos extremos y guturales infernales.

Space Time es una pieza muy Groove, cabe destacar el bajo en esta canción, haciendola aún más apreciable de sus predesoras, sin duda una de las mejores piezas de Gojira.

On The B.O.T.A, pieza corta, nuevamente cabe destacar el bajo, sin embargo esta es una canción muy floja comparada a las demás.

Rise, la décima canción, curiosamente esta canción tiene un riff muy similar, si no es que el mismo de "From The Sky" de su álbum "From Mars To Sirius" del 2005.

La banda continua con Fire Is Everything y Love, donde encontramos lo mismo, Death Metal y potentes breakdowns.
Love es una de las pocas canciones de la banda en tener vídeo musical.

1990 Quatrillions de Tonnes, en esta canción encontramos una fórmula parecida a On The B.O.T.A, sin embargo esta es una pieza instrumental, en la cual apreciamos de fondo gritos de personas lamentandose, haciendo de este instrumental muy curioso pero atractivo que te atrapa desde el primer instante, dicho instrumental da entrada a In The Forest.

In The Forest es la última pieza del disco, no hay mejor manera de cerrar un disco con una pieza de la magnitud y calidad como lo es In The Forest, magia pura con las voces limpias características de la banda, progresiones impresionantes y puro Death Metal con guturales desgarradores.
Como dato curioso está canción oculta un instrumental, la canción en el minuto 5:30 deja un silencio que perdura 4 minutos y da entrada a dicho instrumental, algo muy original y único.

Terra Incognita es un disco que llegó muy tarde a mis oídos, en toda mi travesía por la música extrema jamás tuve el honor de escuchar a Gojira, hasta que un día cayó en mis oídos Terra Incognita que desde que comenzó Clone no despegué mis oídos ni un segundo, éste álbum ha trascendido demasiado en mi vida que está en los primeros puestos de mis discos favoritos, como opinión personal les puedo decir que éste disco es magia pura para los amantes del Progresivo y los buenos guturales.
Espero con ésta reseña atraerlos a éste álbum (a quienes no los conozcan) les aseguro que no dejarán de escucharlo. Y quienes ya lo conocen no hay nada mejor que redescubrir álbumes.

Terra Incognita es un álbum digno de ser un clásico del Death Metal y el cual te tendrá moviendo la cabeza mucho tiempo, es un álbum que tiene una excelente calidad, Terra Incognita es el reflejo del amor por la música y dedicación por la misma.
