Dystopia

La agrupación Californiana presenta su décimo quinto álbum, titulado "Dystopia", con letras sobre el estado islámico y el conflicto en oriente medio. Su éxito no se atribuye al boom "marketinero" y la estrategia comercial entorno al lanzamiento del disco; Dystopia es sin lugar a dudas, el retorno del sonido clásico de Megadeth. Canciones como "Fatal illusion" y "Bullet to the Brain", llamaron mi atención por su composición musical y un estilo speed metal más marcado que en el álbum anterior.

Desde hace varios meses cuando Drover y Broderick decidieron dejar la banda, comenzaron los rumores sobre la nueva alineación de Megadeth, si volvería la más estable hasta ahora. En principio se pensó que Marty Friedman y Nick Menza (QEPD) ya eran parte de la banda de "El Colorado". los seguidores de Megadeth, ya queríamos escuchar lo nuevo, esperábamos un "Rust in Peace II" y que se materializaran las ideas que nos habíamos hecho por años. Pero llego el momento de la verdad, Friedman dijo que “no le interesaba” y Menza, aseguró que era un “mal negocio para él” (aunque luego ambos dieron más detalles). Continuaba la tensión y la expectativa se acrecentaba por el gran cubrimiento que le daban los medios de comunicación especializados, cuando Mustaine anunció la llegada de los nuevos músicos, hubo una reacción confusa; muy buenos músicos, pero ¿encajarían en Megadeth?. Las respuestas no se hicieron esperar, al tiempo que despertaba impresiones tales como “es de lo mejor que le pudo pasar a Megadeth”.

El sencillo "The Threat Is Real" fue lanzado en Lp Blanco el 27 de Noviembre de 2015 y en el lado B el cover a Fear con "Foreign Policy" (Recordemos que Mustaine compartió banda con Lee Ving en MD.45), primera y última canción del Dystopia. Con estos dos temas tendríamos un gran abrebocas de lo que se nos venia, que a pesar de no contar con Marty y Nick, y que llegaran dos músicos que nosotros no imaginábamos, el resultado superó todas las expectativas.

Dystopia fue lanzado el 22 de enero de 2016, en múltiples versiones, pero vamos a hablar de la más conocida, con 13 canciones y que inicia con "The Threat is Real" y su intro con un ritmo árabe marcado y su video oficial en YouTube ya supera los 3.8 millones de reproducciones. Un contundente inicio de álbum con una letra igual de potente a la parte instrumental, sigue la canción "Dystopia" , de la cual se publicó el video oficial un día antes del lanzamiento del álbum y es prácticamente la continuación musical y visual del anterior tema; A este punto, ¿a alguien le queda duda de la buena incorporación de Loureiro y Adler a Megadeth?

Creo que las guerras presentes y la antítesis de las ideologías en la sociedad fueron la inspiración de Mustaine para escribir este gran álbum. Sigue sonando esta mezcla de vieja escuela de Thrash Metal y una sangre mas reciente de virtuosos músicos, y me siento como cuando escuché por primera vez "High Speed Dirt". Llegando a este punto no quiero hablar más de cada canción, voy a dar dos detalles que me impresionaron; Las guitarras “españolas” de "Conquer or Die" (aunque la marcha y guitarras acústicas de "Bullet to the brain" y su continuación metalera son buenísimas), pero mi canción favorita es "Poisonous Shadows" reune la experiencia musical de Megadeth en sus más de treinta años de trayectoria y la introducción de piano tocada por loureiro, que si no estoy mal, desde el killing no se incluía el piano en sus canciones.

Dystopia debutó en el puesto 3 de Billboard, actualmente esta nominado a los Grammy como Mejor interpretación de Metal junto a Gojira, Baroness y Korn, a este momento los 5 videos oficiales de este álbum en YouTube suman casi 10 millones de reproducciones, ¿Te digo algo más?... ¡Escúchalo!
